Kevin Faulconer Statement On Gavin Newsom’s Weak And Late Response To Homelessness In California

Tuesday, May 11, 2021

SAN DIEGO – Former San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer – the leading candidate to recall Gavin Newsom – released the following statement in response to Newsom’s late and insufficient actions on homelessness.

“Homelessness has skyrocketed by 10,000 people since Gavin Newsom took office. No amount of money will solve this crisis without a leader who has the political will to buck the status quo and take bold actions to get people off the streets and indoors to receive the help they need. I am the only leader in California with a proven record of reducing homelessness by compassionately and firmly cleaning up tent encampments while helping people into shelters and homes. We proved we can turn things around in San Diego, and I have the experience to do the same for California.”
